Villa 22 is a small neighbourhood development within an existing residential setup in Bukit Rimau, comprising 22 villas of bungalows and semi-detached units. Sprawled over three acres of freehold land, the villas are laid at the edges of the site and with a single point entry for ease of security. This cloister-like arrangement seeks to balance the central neighbourly realms with the privacies of individual dwellings, whereby the living and dining are oriented towards the villas’ private gardens. Villa 22 denotes clean and modern design with large windows and sliding doors for optimum ventilation and lighting, and a robust pitched roof form addressing tropicality. The rainwater harvesting system installed is for the irrigation of gardens. Materiality to achieve a simple modern design is deliberated with compressed stone for the bungalows’ living and dining, and the rich red balau solid timber flooring for the bedrooms.
